How-To: Update your MFA Information

If you are planning on getting a new phone, you will need to delete your old device from your Authentication methods to set up your new phone with the Authenticator app.

You will need to sign in with your current username and password, as well as your current authentication method to access this page. If these are inaccessible, please contact IT for support.

 Instructions

  1. Log into myaccount.microsoft.com

  2. Click on “Update Info” under the Security info box.

  3. Here, you can add and edit your authentication methods. In this example, we have the Microsoft Authenticator App as our primary factor and a phone number as a backup.

  4. Click “Delete” on the Microsoft Authenticator entry. This will remove your old device and allow you to set MFA back up on your new device.

If you get a new phone, you will need to follow these steps and remove your old device from your account. You will be prompted on your next sign in to set MFA up with your new device. You can follow these instructions to set MFA back up:
